Trainer Bio

Dr. Shannon Andrus is a seasoned trainer and coach with over 20 years’ experience helping individuals improve their professional and personal development skills. She delivers high-energy and interactive virtual and in-person courses.

Shannon delivers a wide variety of training topics including business writing, digital communication, time management, emotional intelligence, gender and communication in the workplace, change management, communication skills, diversity and inclusion, stress management, and team development.

Her business writing sessions are designed to strengthen composition skills, refresh knowledge of English grammar and mechanics, and improve participants’ ability to organize and revise writing effectively. Shannon’s digital communication instruction focuses on how to communicate clearly and appropriately through email and to use social media effectively in the professional world.

Shannon earned her BA in English Literature from Georgetown University, graduating with honors. She taught high school English for four years while also tutoring high school and college students for the SAT, GRE and LSAT exams. Shannon earned her master’s degree in liberal studies in the Great Books Program at St. John’s College and holds a doctorate in education from the University of Pennsylvania. While at Penn, she taught courses in qualitative research and also worked as a research and writing coach for doctoral students. She is the co-author of Teaching Girls: How Teachers and Parents Can Reach Their Brains and Hearts.
